Changed Lives
Through the generosity of anonymous donors to The Magi, many lives have been touched both locally and internationally. The stories below are a sample of the work the Lord has done through this ministry.
Stories of Lives Touched By Anonymous Gifts through The Magi
- Tami...a 22 year-old with 4 children. Her husband left her, just walked away, and is unable to be reached for financial support. Tami cannot meet food, clothing or shelter needs for her family.
Tami received an anonymous donation which provided for several months of rent and food provisions. Her church family has now stepped up to provide for her and the children on a monthly basis.
- Laura...her ex-husband is bi-polar and provides no financial help. The transmission went out on her car where she was charged a large towing bill and then her starter broke. She is behind in rent 3 months.
Laura was given a new used car by a donor and able to sell her car as junk for $500.00, which she applied to past rent.
- Jack and Deb... Deb has cancer and lost her health insurance because she was placed on permanent disability. They must pay an extra $700.00 per month for insurance. Her drugs are very expensive, but they seem to be working.
Jack and Deb received a donation to help pay for 2 months of insurance and medication. This gave them the ability to meet their basic living needs of food, clothing and shelter on with Jack's income for two months.
- Tim...released from prison and has had 207 job interviews since then, but no one will hire him. He has joined a local church but needs money for gas in his car and for food and rent.
Tim has been receiving small monthly donations to help with his basic living needs and continues to search for employment and seek God.
- Larry... a minister at a Memphis presbyterian inner city church. His congregation is elderly and in a declining area of the city. He is not being fully paid and is in danger of losing his home. He is legally blind as well.
Larry was sent support from an anonymous donor and was able to keep his home and continue ministering to his small congregation who depend on him so much.
International Projects Supported with Anonymous Gifts to The Magi
- A Young Life Leader and his family in Russia. They plan and run a Young Life summer camp for Russian youth who otherwise would not be able to hear the gospel. Hundreds of Russian Junior and Senior High students have come to the Lord through this camp opportunity.
The support of a young missionary to Thailand right after the tsunami wave hit on December 24th, 2004. He spent two months there rebuilding houses and caring for all the new orphan's created by the tragedy. He also was with a christian band there and in the evenings played christian rock in the Thai bars where the Thai youth would travel a long way to hear the 'American' music, not realizing that it was Christian.
- The support of two missionaries to Tanzania, Africa. Here the missionaries spent 4 weeks working with the Masaai Tribespeople in bringing them clothing, shoes and school supplies. They taught the tribal children how to play soccer and baseball, taught English through song, and shared the love of Jesus with them.
- The support of a Missionary to Nagales, Mexico for medical purposes and to build a parsonage for a local pastor.
- The support of the construction of a hospital in Sudan, Africa. Many sick Sudanese people have to walk for weeks to get medical treatment, many of whom never make it to their destination, especially children. Mother's often arrive to a clinic with a child in their arms who has been dead for several days. By building even one hospital it cuts the walking time for some Sudanese by half, thus doubling their chance of survival.
