Frequently Asked Questions

 1.) How long will it take before the recipient gets a check?
 
     A:  Once the recipient has been qualified they will be able to receive financial assistance within a week after funds are available.
 
 
2.)  Why do ministers and missionaries have to claim their gift as income?
 
     A:  Those in the ministry must claim all financial gifts as income support because their ministry is their source of employment by their choice.  This annual support is considered their income by the federal government and they must complete a W-9 form in order to receive it. 
 
 
3.)  How much of my donation is actually used to be given to the needy?
 

     A:  All donations are divided into 4 areas.  70% of your donation goes into the Poor and Needy fund, 10% of the donation is placed into the ministry/missionary support fund, 10% is placed into the fund that can be given to other 501(c)3 non-profit organizations such, and 10% is used for operations in order to keep The Magi functional. 
 
 
4.)  What  is your Federal ID number so that I can inform my accountant when I do my taxes?
 
     A:  Our tax ID number is 38-3222383
 
 
5.)  How will I know if the recipient that I recommended received a check?
 
     A:  If the Magi receives a thank you letter from the recipient a copy of this letter is sent to the donor.  If the recipient is qualified they will automatically receive funds.  A donor can also request a copy of the letter that is sent with a recipient gift.
 
 
6.)  How can I be assured that my donation will remain anonymous?
 
     A:  All records of donations are kept in locked files and no information regarding any donation is given publicly in any way.  The only people who have access to these records are The Magi accountant and the executive director.
